Roleplay thread for Tribe/The Beginning.

RULES

- No text-talk. At least for sentences per post (per character). Use good grammar and correct punctuation.

- Before every post, add character information in this format: Name || Rank || Age || Gender || Mate (if applicable) || Mentions: (any characters mentioned in the post) || Location. This will prevent confusion. Adding their build/a link to a picture of them is okay, as well, but isn't required.

- Be respectful to everyone.

- Ranks are not yet decided. When all of the current characters have gathered and decided that they're going to form a group, ranks and ground rules will be decided on.

- If your characters are fighting, decide who is going to win and how it's going to go beforehand.

- No auto-hit/miss, powerplay, or godmodding! This is important. In fights, phrase things as 'attempts,' so, for instance, if Wild were sparring with a Tribemate named Wind, my post would be something like this: Wild snarled furiously, mainly for show, as he trained the younger cat in the art of fighting. Claws were sheathed as to avoid harm, but a shallow scratch was still on his shoulder, from a small accident. He wasn't even winded, and with easy grace, he slipped forward and went to cuff his sparring partner on the shoulder. If the blow landed, she'd most likely go rolling, and if she managed to dodge, well, he wouldn't hit her. All of that processed in milliseconds as his paw swung through the air toward Wind.
- Two people (at the very least) must have posted between each of your posts, even if you're not interacting with their character. This will prevent 1x1 and make sure everyone can keep up. If only one person has posted, and it's been two or more days, you can post again.

Wild had just finished digging out a den. A fox had gone most of the work; it was really an abandoned fox hole that he just fixed up a bit and called his. Soon, he'd get moss to make a nest, and start scouting out the area more, but for now, he was hungry. The area seemed to be rich with all sorts of prey, so the massive cat knew he could get whatever he wanted, and he wanted rabbit. He was good at hunting most thing, including snakes and fish, though he did find it difficult to take down birds. Probably because he was so heavy and couldn't get up high in trees that weren't strong.

With that in mind, Wild trotted into the forest; his new den was in a clearing, under what was probably the largest tree he'd ever seen. As soon as he set foot in the woods, he could smell so many different things that he became confused for a moment before honing in on rabbit-scent. It was weak, but would become stronger the closer he got to his quarry, so he followed, slinking into the deeper undergrowth. Thorns occasionally snagged in his coat, but that was fine, as he was never scratched.

Twig flicked her tail back and forth as she chewed slowly on a stick she'd found on the ground that was tough enough to withstand the jagged teeth at the back of her jaw. She was sitting in a low-hanging, thick branch, letting her paws dangle freely as her tail nearly touched the ground. She wasn't thinking about it much, but she enjoyed chewing on it: it felt good on her teeth.

Finally she got fed up with this stick and tossed it to the ground, jumping down to the ground and trotting along. She wasn't choosing any one direction, but rather meandering along, looking for something interesting for herself. Her tail was curled in a satisfied, thoughtful way, rocking slowly from left to right slowly. His whiskers twitched gently with constant thought.

And then, finally, she found something interesting. Her eyes caught movement and her ears caught sound; she looked up and caught a rabbit scuttling into its den just a few long strides away from her. She lifted her round ears and darted forward, wanting to see where the hole lead. She immediately stuck her face in - this proved to be a mistake. The rabbit, panicking understandably, kicked out and covered her face in dirt - including her wide-open eyes!

She scooted back and let out a pained cry, flattening her ears in horror. It stung like a flock of ants, and she was desperate to make it STOP!

Drizzle's head rose at the sound of someone's pained yelps coming from somewhere nearby. She stood quickly, raising her nose to the air and looking around, but found herself unable to locate the source without further investigation. Blue eyes flitted over to what little remained of her catch earlier that morning, eventually concluding that she could come back for it after she found out who was in pain and why. Although trying to keep a cold, calm demeanor, Drizzle was rather excited to see if there was a chance for actual friendly interaction. Ever since her "brothers", Thorn and Fox, had left her behind not three days previous - no doubt due to their jealousy of her speed and hunting prowess, she thought to herself - she hadn't seen a friendly face. Although distrustful of strangers and generally not happy about speaking, much less actively seeking out one, the lack of friends in the past few days was starting to get to her. Not that someone's pain usually indicates an opportunity for friendship, but it can't hurt to just check it out... It's not like friends just drop out of trees these days. She picked up the pace into a healthy run towards the source of the noise, making few attempts to hide herself. She knew full well that a cat of her size didn't exactly compress down into a small enough space for her to go unnoticed. It didn't take too long for her to find the source of the pained cry - a powdery-brown female with lighter underbelly and brindle stripes. The situation didn't look like a one on one battle, so Drizzle had to wonder what had happened. She quickly sized up the female, noting the long legs and deep chest - the look of a fast runner, possibly a hunter like herself. Her round ears flattened some against her head, but eased as she arrogantly reminded herself that she was the fastest cat she knew and didn't have anything to worry about.

Having found the source of the cry, the spotted female was almost tempted to just walk away. She'd said it before, she'd say it again - she didn't like strangers. However, the thought of being lonely for another few sunrises alone was enough to make her stick around, even if she couldn't bring herself to go any closer or call out to the other female.

Twig suffered for a few more minutes before she realized that blinking made her eyes water, and making her eyes water helped the pain. So she blinked rapidly for a moment until the stinging finally went away. It made her a bit dizzy, but she felt fine afterward.

Swiveling her ears, she realized she felt very watched. Twitching her whiskers and studying the trees, she turned around and quickly noticed the other cat.

"Who are you?" She asked curiously. "Do you need something?"

Had this stranger seen her struggling? How embarrassing!

Wild was distracted from his hunt when he heard cats talking nearby. He was curious, not angry; he had yet to mark the territory as his, so it wasn't their fault that they were trespassing on his new territory. In a few moments, he was close enough to speak with them, and discovered that they were both she-cats, one barely an adolescent. They didn't appear to be related and did not smell as if they'd been near each other for any length of time.

"Hello," he said, his voice deeper than their of theirs could have possibly been. "I am Wild. I recently claimed this territory; my den is back that way. I haven't gotten around to marking anything yet. Who are you two?"

Drizzle opened her mouth to reply to the female, but unfortunately, hadn't thought up a reply by the time she did. Quick on her feet and anything but in conversation, the female stuttered for a few seconds before making out, "I heard someone in pain. I didn't think... that I should just walk on by without investigating." She turned her head quickly as she heard the deep-chested voice of a another stranger, on edge and almost considering taking off before she remembered she didn't have a place to 'take off' to. Plus, even if she did, she loathed being alone. It was worth a little of the conversation it took to make friends. Or whatever could come close to that. The male introduced himself as Wild, and mentioned that he had just claimed the area. Her ears flattened a little, but didn't for too long. He didn't seem to be angry with them, which was a welcome change. When he asked who the two of them were, she had to wonder when he was going to chase them off. Maybe he was trying to ambush them in plain sight. Strangers were trouble like that. Despite this thought, Drizzle replied, "I... I can't speak for her," she indicated the other female with the flick of her tail, "but I'm just a swift, wandering kind of type, only passing through... er... name, you probably meant a name. I... my name is," She paused slightly, not sure if she wanted to wanted to give her real name or not. She figured it couldn't hurt much. "Drizzle. Or Dizzy. Or Ditzl depending on which of my brothers you ask. But mostly Drizzle. So... you can... call me Drizzle. I guess." Trying to sound less like she was passionately disinterested in the conversation or otherwise incapable of intelligent speech, she added, "Thank you, by the way, for not just attacking us out of the blue. I'm sure you can believe the amount of times that's happened." The spotted female glanced over her shoulder, quickly calculating an escape route in case things here went sour before returning her attention to the matter before her.

Bear looked out over the forest from his perch in the tallest tree he had ever seen. It just figured that his sister had decided to climb to the top of the largest tree she could find and drag him along for the ride. It was now late morning and she still had not woken up...he had climbed her stupid tree to hide from “Predators” the least she could do was wake up and get him breakfast. Giving out a deep huff of breath Bear flopped onto his branch in an effort to wake up the still form of his sister only a few feet away….she did not even twitch. Grumbling under his breath the cub looked down...it wouldn’t hurt if he explored a little. Looking at the nearest branch down the small tom trotted to the trunk of the tree unsheathing his claws as he half hoped, half ran, and half tumbled down to the next branch.

Proceeding in this slightly awkward fashion the cub finally reached the bottom branch where he promptly unbalanced falling the last few feet to the ground. Laying there a few seconds before he eventually staggered to his feet Bear winced realizing that last fall had bruised his shoulder. Looking back up the cub realized there was no way he would manage to climb back up without help...Coon would not be happy when she found out. A sudden sound or perhaps a plethora of sounds caught Bear’s attention... were others of his kind nearby? Raising his nose into the air Bear caught the strong whiff of a male cat emanating from the bottom of the tree he and his sister had spent the night in. That smell had not been there when they had come across the tree yesterday afternoon…

Not happy that a strange male was around the red brown cub decided to investigate placing white tipped paws carefully all the while puffing up his chest like he had seen his father do when a rival tomcat had invaded their territory...why his father had handed over the responsibility of raising him to his half sister of all people was an absolute mystery to the small cub. Trodding into the clearing with a cub-like yowl the brown cub was only partially aware of the female cats his green eyes taking in the absolutely huge cat he had just challenged. Perhaps he had made a mistake…..

Twig felt her stomach drop as a tom came near enough to speak. Had every cat in the forest seen her embarrassing run-in with a strange creature below the earth? She shook herself, ears burning. Hopefully he had only just recently arrived, and hadn't seen her meltdown of pain, even if the other molly had.

She swiveled her ears a little as Drizzle spoke, listening to her stammer in a panic. She flicked her tail back and forth slowly, thinking on her own introduction while the other she-cat blundered through her words. When she was done, she opened her mouth and spoke.

"My name is Twig," She mrrowed. "I only just recently became independant, and I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I'm a swift type as well; I like to run. I also like to explore." She flicked her tail shyly, grinning. "That's how I got here. I was following some strange-smelling creature... but I guess you don't care about that."

In all honesty, she jumped a little when the cub appeared to them. She couldn't help a small giggle at his apparently threatening growl toward Wild. She was surprised; at one point she had been this small, but she had grown exponentially in her last six months. Now she had the size and build of the adults; she just needed to fill out with muscle and a little bit of fat in order to grow into such a form.

"Cute!" She blurted before she could stop herself. "Oops. I- I meant fierce. Terrifying, even."

Playing along couldn't hurt, right?

"Oh, I'm sure I can," Wild laughed as Drizzle explained that she'd expected an attack. "By the time I was twelve moons old, though, I was as big as most adults, so I never had many problems." He was clearly relaxed, not going to attack, and was hoping that both she-cats would understand that.

He was startled when a tiny little tom came up to him and yowled, chest puffed up. While it took serious self-discipline, he schooled his face into a slightly frightened expression. "Oh, no!" he exclaimed, giving a sidelong glance to Twig, who also seemed to be playing along. "Whatever have I done, to incur the wrath of such a ferocious beast such as yourself?" Amusement flashed in his eyes for a moment, but he managed not to laugh, though it was difficult.

Perking his ears the young brown tom was shocked by the apparent terror in the huge tomcat’s reaction...but Bear quickly hid the shock...it was best not to show any weakness to those around...that was the first rule Bear’s father had taught him. Stretching his legs and curling his neck as he pranced up on fluffy overlarge paws for his adolescent body, the cub gave a short purr as one of the pretty females commented on how terrifying he looked. “You are in my territory.” Bear said in a proud voice puffing up his fluffy chest even more than before so that it looked like he would overbalance at any second.

Coon woke gradually from the deep dreamless sleep that she had fell into the moment she had dragged her half brother up the tree that would keep them both safe while she slept. Usually such a precaution would not be necessary...Coon could hold her own against most predators in this part of the forest being just a tad larger than most of her kind...mostly because of the deep fur that covered her head to toe... but her fellow predators did not know that. This time had been different though due to her younger brother...his whole purpose since he had become her own responsibility was to drive her into a early grave...and he ate sooooo much for such a small thing. Yesterday had been worst than most. Giving a groan and a stretch Coon suddenly froze as the absence of her brother registered. Fear took hold of her heart, squeezing with such intensity that it was almost a physical in pain. It was with relief Coon realized that his scent was trailing down the tree...he had not fallen. Taking a shaky breath the masked female closed sparkling dark blue eyes as anger started to bloom and mix with the fear dancing through her blood. A low growl echoed through her throat a reaction to the terror she had felt a second ago and the fear that she felt now. Jumping down from limb to limb before getting to the ground the female scented the air and froze, the onyx and silver mane-like crest that started between her ears and ended just before her tail stood on end at the unmistakable scent of a strange male lingering in the air...

The standoffish female had bristled at the approach of another stranger, but it was only a cub. She played scared as the others did, and upon the young male's statement that this was his territory, she gave an amused glance to Wild and Twig. Drizzle was tempted to push the cub over, but couldn't bring herself to, instead feigning fear, "Oh please don't hurt us... we didn't realize." She tucked her tail, lowering her body closer to the ground in a show of feigned submission. I wonder where his parents are. Maybe we should get out of here before they show up. Hah, if they are anywhere nearby, at least I know I'm the fastest. Nothing could ever catch me! She thought to herself, trying not to let it show in her face.

Wild frowned a little, as if coming to a sudden realization. "Aren't you a little young to have your own territory?" he asked, teasingly. "And you're really not taking very good care of it - no scent marks anywhere!" He remained in the 'slightly frightened' position, however, just hoping that when this kit's parents showed up, they'd explain why their kit was running around alone, claiming that this was his territory.

Really, if he'd been aggressive, that little tom could be dead. Was he on his own? All of this crossed Wild's mind before he made a decision. "Well . . . If this is really your territory, would you be ever-so-gracious as to allow me to stay? I've already dug out a den, you see, and I'd hate for all of that effort to go to waste."

Bear’s chest deflated a little at at Wild’s remark...he wasn’t that young...already a half a year old! The huge cat still seemed to be quite subservient though and the proud little cub quickly regained his overly dominant posture tilting his head like a king giving a favor. “You can stay as long as you want but you have to agree to become my bodyguard...umf” The last sound was buffeted out of the small brown cubs lungs as a big cat landed around him pushing him between her legs as she stood over him protectively. A familiar scent washed over Bear...it was his sister...father had always said that girls should never be allowed to boss around boys...why had he given her control over Bear if that was the case? It was below Bear to have to obey the older female.

Coon || Unkown || 1 Year || 6 Months || Female || Mentions: Bear, Wild, Drizzle, Twig || Location:-Near Wild’s Tree

Coon sped through the forest on silent paws ears back and teeth barely noticeable as they peaked out of a snarling maw. Despite her slightly larger size than most of her species Coon did not boast any more muscle than any other average she-cat near her own weight...her speed was better as she would be considered fast compared to her own size class though she would never be able to outrun the smaller and more lithe of her kind. Coon’s special talent was moving without a sound...she outmatched all of her weight class in the trick and most of the smaller cats as well...she figured it must be due to the soft snow leopard like fur that covered her from head to toe combined with any natural talent she was born with. Her small fool of a younger cub had gone chasing after the first male scent he had come across...a very dangerous thing to do. In Coon’s opinion a kind male was a very hard thing to come across, one that was willing to share control even less so. The masked female twitched an ear...she had to admit that the stereotype was mostly due to her and Bear’s biological father...he was a dominating, chauvinistic pig, who could not stand the presence of any male other than his own offspring...and even then his temper would often wear thin. When the female slowed and came across the sight of her brother standing so proud and vulnerable in front of the largest male Coon had ever graced eyes upon the female could not spare a glance for the females or any body language being expressed in the clearing. The onyx and gray raccoon marked cat crossed the clearing making as much noise as a shadow making sure to leap and land so that her younger sibling was safely shielded from danger. Than Coon kept absolutely still...it would not be wise to move lest it gave the bigger cat reason to attack.

Drizzle was just about to pretend to be the young one's bodyguard when the other cat came into play. The tall female quickly hopped to all fours, gripping to the ground in preparation to run. So many strangers in one place was giving her the 'let's go' signal, but she didn't want to give up on this. Besides, if anything went sideways, she could always run when it happened. Every muscle in her body was tensed, small ears backward and pressed flat upon her skull. She opened her mouth, but any words she might've said were lost to her, and she quickly shut her mouth. Her tail twitched rapidly behind her, and she backed up a step, not wanting to cross anyone. Drizzle was fast - a hunter - but in no way a fighter. She risked a glance to Wild, but quickly brought her attention back to the new female, tempted to attack, but content with finally hissing a hesitant, "Who are you?"
